Concussion
Concussion is typically related to a mild blow to the head or whiplash/rotational injury. Common signs and symptoms of concussion include:
*confusion
*headache
*dizziness
*nausea/vomiting
*ringing in ears
*tiredness/fatigue
*change in cognition (ie: memory, reasoning, language)
*change in behavior/personality

Symptoms may present within minutes to days following the initial injury, and duration of symptoms can vary. However, most symptoms remit within approximately a couple of days.
If symptoms do not remit, or if they worsen, medical attention is advised.
Formal Neuropsychological evaluation, and a referral to speech therapy, or occupational therapy may be indicated if:
*there is a persistent change/ decline in cognition
*there is persistent change in behavior or personality
*if the individual experiences difficulty in school, work, daily tasks, or interaction/socialization with the community
